The Occultist

The Occultist

The Occultist is a first-person supernatural ghost story crafted by DALOAR and Daedalic Entertainment. As you travel to Godstone Island in search of your father, you discover that a cult has performed a ritual that has made the island devoid of life, almost frozen in time. However, Godstone Island isn’t the only part of the game devoid of life

Pragmata

Pragmata

As Hugh discovers that the Lunar Moon Base is abandoned, he will come to rely on Diana, an android girl whose hacking skills will aid in their survival as a rogue AI has taken over the station. With a threat looming overhead against Earth, the pair must work together to protect Earth at all costs.

Incantation

Incantation

Incantation is, simply put, a walking simulator horror experience. You’ll collect documents to learn more about the lore, solve puzzles, and avoid confrontations as you have no way to truly defend yourself. The atmosphere is fairly impressive with a few solid scares, but a limit on your interaction with the world does lessen the appeal.

Beyond Words

Beyond Words

If you’re a fan of word-based games of any kind, then Beyond Words is absolutely a must-play. It’s an experience that I will continue playing for hundreds of hours. While Balatro’s ‘lightning in a bottle' success might not be replicated here, it does provide that similar rush when a round goes your way and you feel like an absolute god. With all that in mind, it’s impossible not to recommend it to everyone who likes these deckbuilding roguelike-style games.

Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert is a single-player action game from developer Pearl Abyss. This is the studio behind Black Desert Online, and they have taken their MMO history and wrapped it in a game that feels equal parts Red Dead Redemption 2, The Witcher III, and Tears of the Kingdom/Breath of the Wild.

Legacy of Kain: Ascendance

Legacy of Kain: Ascendance

Legacy of Kain: Ascendance is every bit as cringy as most fan fiction stories go, especially ones where the author injects a new character of their own and makes them pivotal to the backstory of well-established characters, thus reconstructing the lore to suit the author's needs.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflections advances the gameplay, story, and core systems beyond the portable nature of its predecessors. With doom on the horizon and truths that come to light, the prophecy of the Rathalos begins anew. This latest entry may drop its online to focus more on its single-player campaign, it is nonetheless a compelling package from start to finish.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection

With two excellent entries and even the disappointing second game, each providing slightly different versions, not to mention the game's online component, it truly gives players a decent amount here to really enjoy. While Battle Network will always be my preferred Mega Man Spin-off, Star Force nonetheless is a suitable continuation of the world and some of its basic combat systems.

Icarus: Console Edition

Icarus: Console Edition

When it comes to science fiction, we've seen the damage that corporations do when it comes to making a profit. Lives are expendable, and safety is secondary. And, with being so far away from any real laws to govern that responsibility, it generally becomes a game of survival. Icarus is such an experience.

Screamer

Screamer

Screamer is damn fun once you’ve mastered its systems, both in their execution and timing. While the current difficulty can be a tad too challenging for the casual racing fan, the additional modes and online can provide a wealth of content to tackle.

Overthrown

Overthrown

I'll admit, Brimstone Games’ Overthrown had me interested based on its well put together trailer, showcasing the wealth of combat and building options in this open world sandbox co-op city builder. That mouthful aside, a lack of direction and tutorials builds more frustration than much else.

Dragonkin: The Banished

Dragonkin: The Banished

Back in 2019, I checked out Eko Software’s contribution to the wealth of Warhammer games in Warhammer: Chaosbane. While its combat was the star of the show, it was a middling effort nonetheless, a passable and yet enjoyable isometric hack and slash. Now, they have returned to the genre with the release of Dragonkin, a new IP by the studio, and a much better effort, despite its familiar flaws.

WWE 2K26

WWE 2K26

WWE 2K26 is here, showcasing the career of CM Punk. With new modes, new wrestlers, and a whole new MyRise mode, not to mention returning to the Island, there is a ton to tackle here. However, much of 2K26 is stuck in the past with cumbersome menus, reused models, and microtransactions as far as Oba Femi can throw Kit Wilson.

John Carpenter's Toxic Commando

John Carpenter's Toxic Commando

Developed by Saber Interactive, Toxic Commando is an over-the-top, gory, open zone vehicle-focused zombie horde game that amps up the population of zombies to almost insane degrees. While Left 4 Dead had enough zombies to fill a small club, Toxic Commando is looking to sell out Madison Square Garden.

Resident Evil 9: Requiem

Resident Evil 9: Requiem

Requiem does a number of things well to accommodate two slightly different Resident Evil experiences without this latest entry feeling like two unique games. It also builds on the franchise in ways like never before, with a revisit to Raccoon City decades after Leon and Claire barely escaped with their lives.

Docked

Docked

Docked is absolutely worth your time. While its menu-driven structure occasionally breaks immersion, the strength of its core systems, satisfying progression, and impressive presentation make it easy to recommend.

Scott Pilgrim EX

Scott Pilgrim EX

With a ton of different items to boost your power, and seven immensely fun characters to master, EX is wildly fun, despite its noticeable flaws, and continues the adventures of Scott Pilgrim, and his unique cast of heroes and villains, all somewhere in Toronto.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties

While Kiwami 3 does bring several quality of life changes, as well as being rebuilt in the Dragon Engine, it also suffers from a host of pacing issues, cut content, and a horrific casting choice that will likely overshadow any good this game provides.

Neva: Prologue

Neva: Prologue

Neva: Prologue tells us the story of how Alba met Neva, her trusted wolf companion. Early into this glimpse of their past, Alba stumbles upon a small wolf cub. When u first meet Neva, they run away, but freeing them from behind a cracked pillar causes them to follow you, eager to find out who their rescuer is.

Styx: Blades of Greed

Styx: Blades of Greed

Styx: Blades of Greed marks a long-awaited return for Cyanide Studio’s stealth-focused goblin, wasting little time reminding you exactly what kind of game it aims to be. Being a semi-linear stealth experience, it harkens back to an era when stealth action games were more mainstream.
