While 2022 saw a lot of upcoming delays into what is already looking like a stacked 2023, it was still a packed year full of a ton of great releases both big and small. From the juggernaut that was Elden Ring to masterpieces in Chained Echoes and Xenoblade Chronicles 3, 2022 might offer up one of the most diverse lineups in gaming history.
While 2021 saw the delays of several high-profile games, the year still provided some absolute stunners across the industry, both big and small. From the long-awaited Halo: Infinite to the much-rumored Metroid Dread, we also saw games like Death’s Door take much of the spotlight as well. But, there was also some absolute trash and several games that came across as vast disappointments.
2020 has certainly been one long and vastly depressing year. Regardless, many games have been able to be released, and while many have seen delays or experiences that are littered with bugs and glitches likely a result of working from home, we have still been remarkably lucky to see a very impressive assortment of titles hit both last and now current-gen consoles
2019 has had a wide range of big AAA games to some stellar indie titles, not to mention Xbox Game Pass offering up one of the best values in gaming. When going through my list of my favorite and least favorite experiences this year, I decided to go with an Awards Show style Game of the Year setup. I have a few standard categories as well as a few fun ones as well.
When I put together my Top Ten list of 2018, I decided not to allow remakes or remasters into my list. Having said that, I still want to acknowledge them as part of my Honorable Mentions of 2018. I also want to list off a few titles that either I really enjoyed, haven’t completed, or have just recently started playing.
It is not often that I will flat out hate a game. Often, I will find something decent about it, or at the very least, appreciate what the developer tried to do. Then, there are games that I wish just wouldn’t exist. While there are some redeemable qualities on a few of the titles on this list, the following 10 games are still what I consider the worst of 2018.
