All Will Fall

Support or Collapse

Everyone knows that you don't mess with Mother Nature, as she is a force to be reckoned with. This is why a number of people fear global warming, as it can cause one of the biggest natural disasters known to mankind, a flood that even Noah wouldn't be prepared for. This scenario, in particular, is what we find ourselves in with All Will Fall.

In All Will Fall, you help a group of survivors who have fled what land is left, as bandits and killers have taken much of it over. While sailing in a storm, your crew crashes into a set of buildings that are sticking out of the water. Now, you are stuck and must make the most of the situation.

You start on a small chunk of exposed building and a small selection of structures that you can build upon. All you can do currently is gather the closest resource piles so you can build, and the first thing you should build is a small lab.

With the small lab, you can start to research new structures to help you in your fight for survival. Anything from new buildings to gathering resources, or gathering food and water. You can even research buildings to help build trust in your people, which is a very useful thing to do. After all, without trust, what do we have?

Your people are split into three groups: workers, sailors, and engineers. Each group has unique buildings that they can work in, but also unique traits at high happiness. So, building up the happiness in a group can help to increase productivity, reduce input cost, or increase how much a building makes. Morale is crucial to survival and is a focal point for you to manage.

But this only happens when you get their happiness up high enough. To help build that happiness, there are a few things you can do, some of which are upgrading their housing, increasing their rations, or building up their loyalty. However, the aid of your people is not the only support that you will need to be aware of in this game.

There is a unique system at play, which makes it so you must watch what and how you build. If you fail to give a structure proper support, it will fall right into the water. Losing the building and anything else that was with it. This has an effect on said morale.

Luckily, as you progress in the tech tree, you can find different types of support structures. You can even learn how to make foundations to build new sections for buildings and homes. This is a crucial component of the game, given the importance of having a solid foundation.

Another thing you need to watch is the weather, as changing weather can cause you some issues. From the storms to the junknado, keeping tabs on what is coming up next can help you make the right preparations for what is to come.

As you progress, you will encounter random events that can affect a variety of things. From your resources, the loyalty of your citizens, to the amount of influence you have in your settlement.

Influence is a special resource that can help change how your settlement runs by spending it on policies. These can change how fast your citizens move, work, how much they can carry, and how many rations you can give people. So, policies can make or break your settlement and whether you will fall or succeed.

When you do succeed, that is not the end, as there are multiple different scenarios that you can play. Each one has a different win condition for you to try and beat. There is even a random generation map that adds to the replayability, adding hundreds of hours of content to play.

The visuals you see as you play are clean and easy on the eyes. And with the choice of music, the environment gives a calm and pleasant feel. Overall, I think the presentation is solid and gives the game a unique feel and tone.

Now, while I was playing, there have been a few bugs that have come up. This includes the resources from rewards not matching what I was told I would get, to visual bugs that have made text disappear. Small bugs can be annoying to deal with, and given that you are often relying on the game running smoothly to survive, it can, at times, affect those odds.

I love the fact that I have seen these bugs get patched out as I have played more and more. The devs have also added new things and changed some of the tech tree,  giving you more options to work within your patch of the sea.

All Will Fall is a fun and relaxing experience, with many ways to play and routes to try. There is a bunch of fun to be had, especially if you love the survival town builder genre as I do. With a solid foundation, there is a ton to build on here, literally.
