Operation Purge is a single-player, sci-fi survival game set on Titan,, one of Saturn’s moons. You’re an astronaut who survives a crash after responding to a distress call in the deep reaches of space. You’ll then survey the wreckage, repair key systems to your survival, and attempt to get to the bottom of the distress call that sent you here in the first place.
The survival aspects have you maintaining oxygen and water levels. This is done by collecting containers as you move around the various locations in the demo. It’s nothing new to the genre, but it does make sense given the situation you find yourself in. It also doesn’t help that the demo ends before you feel like it clicks for you, offering you the smallest of bites into what should be a lengthy chunk of what the genre can often provide.
The demo itself is oddly short, yet it does show promise. Controls felt smooth and responsive, and the game features some remarkable visuals, even if the development work seems very early. This is largely due to the fact the demo is in rough shape. There is a lot of promise here, but it’s hard to recommend the game currently. The demo is still available to try, if you are remotely interested.
