Monster Lab Simulator Early Access Impressions

Monster Lab is a monster creation game where you’ll create, merge, and battle will all types of creatures. Each has its own abilities and attributes that truly separate them from the rest. You can also sell them for cash, to make a quick buck, which further funds your endeavors in more creature creation, thus beginning the process all over again.

However, first, your creatures are called Fulu, and how you make them starts with the Synthesis Machine. You need to place an egg in the machine, followed by three essences. There are four basic essences you can choose from; Fire, Water, Nature, and Neutral. Different combinations will result in the creation of different Fulu, so it is worthwhile to experiment and find all the potential combinations you can make.

Once you have synthesized your egg, the next step is to incubate it. This is done by placing it in an incubation chamber and waiting for it to hatch. When this process is done, you can remove the egg and hatch your created Fulu.

Now that you have your Fulu, you have a few options; you can sell it, should you want, and this is done by buying an orb and place it in the machine. Then, should someone want it, they can simply buy it. Next, you can merge them together with other Fulu. You’ll need three of the same Fulu and you then place them into the merging machine. This results in the next evolution of that Fulu, which makes them stronger than the last.

Lastly, is having them fight other Fulu in the Arena. To do this, you need to orb the Fulu you want to fight, then place them in the Arena Machine; see a pattern here? When you are ready, you can start the fight. There is not much you can do in these fights as you sit there and hope for the best.

When the fight is done, win or lose, you will get tickets to the slot machine in your place. This can give you a variety of things from boosts, more eggs, or even cash. Just don’t forget to heal your Fulu by placing them back in their orbs and then back into their respective habitats.

It is also worth noting that you can get amber, which you can break open with an amber smelting machine. These ambers can hold higher-quality eggs, so you can have a better chance at getting higher-quality Fulu, but it’s not guaranteed to work how you think it will. Sometimes you can use a rare egg to make a Fulu and have it result in a common. This hurts more when you try and merge as the same thing can happen. You can use three rares in an effort to do something better and have it come out as a common. It stings.

Now, this is not the final release of Monster Lab, as they are still in early access have have more to add to the game. The tablet in the game has three apps that are currently locked in this build of the game. These are Fulu trade, network, and labops. The last one is likely a research tab to upgrade your facilities to help minimize the risk of your Fulu dropping in rarity, but I am unsure if that is the case as of yet. Still, this gets me interested in seeing what may come in the game in the future.

For now, Monster Lab has a very simple premise that reminds me a bit of Cash Cleaner for some reason. With clean graphics and cute monsters, it has good potential to be a fun time. And, with some things being teased in the game currently, I look forward to what this team will add to in the future.
