Marathon hits home this March.

Today, Bungie, the creators of Halo and Destiny, premiered the “Vision of Marathon” ViDoc of their PvPvE survival extraction FPS Marathon. In Marathon, players scavenge the lost colony of Tau Ceti IV as a bio-cybernetic Runner while surviving against hostile security forces, rival Runners, and inhospitable environments to seek their fortune. As part of the ViDoc, Bungie developers showcased updates to the tactical shooter, including:

  • Proximity chat

  • Solo queue

  • A Rook shell with a limited loadout, used to scavenge in-progress rounds

  • Enhanced the survival experience, immersion, and danger of the world

  • Increased visual fidelity and updated UI

  • And more!

In addition, Bungie confirmed a few specifics, such as the title will see a release this March, with a final release date to be announced in January. The game will be available on Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with full crossplay and cross-save. Buying the game will see such benefits as access to all gameplay updates, such as maps, runner shells, events, and more. And players will have access to the Cryo Archive, the first deck on the UESC Marathon ship, which is part of Season One.

Marathon is built not to provide any pay-to-win mechanics. And, rewards earned in the game do not expire, and players can earn rewards from previous passes at anytime. And, if you miss out on any previous passes, you can purchase them at any time.

Stay tuned this January for a bigger deep dive on all things Marathon.
