Jeff Young

Hi, I’m Jeff Young.

I started Analog Stick Gaming in 2017 because I enjoy writing and talking about video games. Whether that is via an old-fashioned written review or on a podcast, I simply love sharing my love for gaming.

I largely grew up on the NES and eventually moved on to the Sega Genesis simply because I just had to have Sonic. Of all the major consoles that I haven’t owned, that would be the Super Nintendo, Jaguar, Turbo Graphix 16, and the Sega Saturn. The first console I purchased with my own money was the PlayStation One, I remember it being $406.58 after tax. Why I remember that, I don’t know.

Some of my favorite consoles of all time have been the PlayStation 1 and 2, the original Xbox and Xbox 360, as well as the Dreamcast, which had some amazing games. Lately, you’ll find me on Xbox Series X, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and my Steam Deck. I don’t participate in the console wars as they don’t exist. “Sega does what Nintendon’t” was the only time I really remember the actual console wars.

I enjoy a wide range of gaming and am always a sucker for third-person adventure games. Some of my personal favorites are The Witcher III, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, the Mass Effect Trilogy, and almost anything developed by Spiders Interactive. I simply love Euro-jank and honestly, you all should play more of those games.

I love all things gaming and pop culture related. Attending events like Pax, or local expos, meeting some of my favorite people like Joe Mad from Battlechasers to even some of my favorite cosplayers like Jessica Nigri, who always amazed me that she remembered my name each time I met her. I loved the discussion I had with Steven Yeun about Dry Bones and Mario Kart. Such a cool guy!

Please drop me a line if you are interested to know more or would like for me to appear on any podcasts.

Thanks!

Jeff.
