PlayStation State of Play - Sept 2022

Sony showed off a pretty solid selection of games during the latest State of Play. We got brand new looks at the newest entry in the beloved Tekken series, as well as a jaw-dropping new trailer in God of War: Ragnarok. So, let’s take a look at everything that was announced!

Tekken 8

While a release date was not shown for Tekken 8, this trailer was later reported as being taken directly from the “still-in-development” story mode. The trailer is stunningly gorgeous and highly detailed, and the snapped chain forming the 8 was a nice touch. Here is the trailer for Tekken 8.

Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge

Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge is a brand new VR game for the upcoming PSVR2. Here is a trailer showing various gameplay mechanics, locations, and the numerous friends and enemies you’ll encounter.

Demeo

Demeo is another PSVR2 game that is a co-op dungeon crawling survival game. Check out the dice-rolling trailer below!

Like a Dragon: Ishin

Yakuza’s spin-off, Like a Dragon: Ishin, is getting not only a remake but a western release as well. Apparently, the success of Ghost of Tsushima showed SEGA that a game of this nature could do well overseas. So, join a lot of familiar Yakuza characters in this bizarre yet awesome-looking title. The game will hit PS4, PS5, as well as other consoles this February.

Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy, the upcoming Harry Potter universe game will be getting some exclusive content. Here is the trailer, but here is a link to my latest news article regarding this bonus content.

Pacific Drive

Pacific Drive is Ironwood Studio’s first game and it appears to be a driving title in a post-apocalyptic version of the Pacific Northwest.

PlayStation Stars

PlayStation showed off its bizarre loyalty program called PlayStation Stars while simultaneously not explaining anything about it other than players can earn digital collectibles that, uh.. do something? It left us with more questions than answers.

Synduality

Synduality is the latest announcement from Bandai Namco. This is a third-person shooter featuring mechs and a similar look to a certain Platinum game. It is expecting a 2023 release.

Stellar Blade

Previously titled. Project Eve, is the now renamed Stellar Blade. This sleek-looking anime game looks fantastic and the trailer did not disappoint.

Rise of Ronin

Team Ninja seems to be quite the busy studio as they announced a new game in Rise of the Ronin. This PlayStation 5 exclusive is expected to have a release sometime in 2024.

God of War: Ragnarok

God of War: Ragnarok’s newest trailer is here. It looks incredible and well, just take a look for yourself as the game releases this November.
