Today via the PlayStation Blog, Sony announced that the long-awaited return of ol’ Papa Kratos in God of War: Ragnarok, will be available on PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 this November 9th, 2022.
A new CG trailer was shown off to promote this announcement, one that has been prefaced with a lot of hostility towards the developer with pressure to announce its release date. Several inpatient and rude fans hounded the developer, even sending inappropriate images to some of the dev team, and this was met with a statement from Sony Santa Monica’s own, Cory Barlog, to tell fans to wait, be patient, and that the announcement regarding the date would come. Sony Santa Monica followed up with a response shortly after, as seen below.

The PlayStation Blog post stated the following:
We’re thrilled be able to share our release date and the brand-new God of War Ragnarök – Father and Son CG Trailer with all the God of War fans who have been eagerly awaiting news. We hope you’ve enjoyed a glimpse at some of the dangers Kratos and Atreus could find themselves up against as Ragnarök approaches.
Following the post, a Collector’s Edition was unveiled as well, with an official unboxing video as seen below.
The Blog post also detailed each of the varied editions of the game, stating that Pre-Orders will go live on July 15th at 10am ET. The following editions are as follows, as posted on the PlayStation Blog.

As you’ve seen in the above video, the God of War Ragnarök Collector’s Edition comes housed in a beautiful box representing the Knowledge Keeper’s Shrine. This shrine was of the triptychs that Kratos and Atreus came across in God of War (2018), depicting the tale of a powerful seer, the Giant Sorceress called Gróa, who was the first to have a vision of Ragnarök.
