Rainbow Six Extraction hits Game Pass on Day One

Ubisoft announced today that not only is the co-op PvE shooter Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction hitting Xbox on January 20th, but the game is going to be available on Game Pass on Day One, for both Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass users. The game will also see its release alongside PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows, Google Stadia, and Amazon Luna on the same day.

The Rainbow Six spinoff is already priced at $39.99USD, making it a fairly inexpensive purchase regardless of its inclusion into Microsoft’s subscription service. The title joins Game Pass alongside a fairly stacked month for the platform as Mass Effect Legendary Edition is also slated to be included this month as part of EA PLay being part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Extraction is also pulling an It Takes Two and No Way Out with a Buddy Pass system as those who own the game can invite two players to join in on the fun, even if that buddy pass is only good for a two-week period. Still, with the game being part of Game Pass, you’ll be able to enjoy the game as long as it is part of the service. The title can also be purchased off of Game Pass at a discount to make it a permanent part of your library.

Rainbow Six Extraction is a detour of sorts from the typical Tom Clancy game as you take down Alien hordes called the Archeans. Originally developed and titled “Quarantine”, back when it was announced at E3 2019, the game was retitled last year due to the worldwide pandemic.

And, the Ubisoft news didn’t stop there as Ubisoft+, a subscription service to access a wealth of Ubisoft titles will be coming to Xbox as it was previously a PC-only feature. The service, unlike EA Play, will not be part of Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate, and pricing at this time has not been revealed. The release date for its Xbox debut has also not been announced and will likely be part of a Ubisoft Foward event later this year. Ubisoft+ offers over 100 titles across its vast library, with a monthly cost similar to Xbox Game Pass.
