Anthem's future is now uncertain.

Anthem hasn’t had the smoothest reception since its launch earlier this year. Long load times, frequent disconnects, and several issues plagued the game for several weeks and Bioware even had to delay the first wave of additional content. Throughout this, Bioware made it clear that all future content would be free, but now it seems that the free content may not release as planned.

Bioware’s head of Live Services, Chad Robertson had this to say on the planned future content and issues with the game:

"We hear your concerns on core issues in Anthem and are acting on it. Those systems require a more thorough review and re-working versus quick fixes. We’ve got a team working on that now, and early results are promising. In order to address these long-range plans, we are moving away from the Acts structure for updates, Instead, we have additional seasonal updates planned for this year that we think players will enjoy. These events will deliver challenges and chases similar to what you’ve seen, and are built around some fun themes we’re bringing to the game.”

Before launch, Bioware indicated that Anthem’s future would be told in three seperate acts, expanding its world and characters. While Cataclysm was an alright piece of content, it lacked anything to keep players, such as myself, around for more than a few hours at best. I personally chose not to review the new content because frankly, it was lacking in substance and the event was just not really any fun or worthwhile.

I’ll update this story as more information becomes available. Stay tuned, Freelancers.
